This beautiful architectural home is situated in a private, gated community in Northland’s, Mangawhai. Featuring two main structures, joined and surrounded on three sides with large decks, with a stunning view to the coastline. The couple were personally involved extensively on not only the design but also the build of the home. A far cry from the cramped urban living the couple were used to in their home town of Wellington.
Wanting an exceptional residence, there was no expenses spared it seems. Recycled Oak from Europe that was 100’s of years old was imported to create an incredible set of doors for the front entryway. The Queenstown style of design with the two detached buildings meant the use of exposed timber was a very important feature.
Exposed ceilings throughout with hand made feature trusses, all painted in white complements the design style very well. Kingfisher SG8 Pine timber was chosen with a custom band sawn face finish on all faces for the structural truss timbers. These protrude out to the sofit edge giving the property a great look from the outside.
Kakapo Clears Radiata Pine TGV was chosen to clad the complete roof structure including internal exposed ceilings and exterior sofits. This sarking was also painted white to achieve a mix of the traditional timber look with light modern finish that makes it have a very roomy feel.
