Tukituki River Suspension Bridge

This suspension bridge crosses the Tukituki river on the Tukituki trail between Waipawa and Waipukurau in the picturesque Central Hawkes Bay. The CHB Rotary River Pathway Trust working with the local community and council were behind the development and funding of this $225000 project.

Wellington based contractors Abseil Access provided the technical expertise informing design and the manpower to build the 100 m long swing bridge structure. At 1.2 m wide with a 500 mm upward camber this was one of the longer swing bridges that Abseil Access have built.

ATS Timber have worked closely with an approved reseller to supply numerous Abseil Access jobs. Due to the remote locations of some of their bridge installations ATS Timber offer specified cut to length structural timber solutions and arrange deliveries to locations were often timber is either manhandled further up bush tracks or heli-lifted to the build site.

Martin Wilson, Director of Abseil Access offered the following : Thanks again for the supply of yet another batch of quality timber for the Tukituki suspension bridge build. Once again it was ideal that it arrived on site all cut to length and ready to install. We look forward to using your services on the next 9 bridge builds coming up next year.

ATS Timber recognise the key to supplying within spec and on time and enjoy the challenge of meeting this contractors’ requirements.
