A project with love at its heart.
In the making for over 4 years from the concept to completion, this home has a special place in the hearts of the owners. Set in the beautiful Hokitika Valley with the steep native bush clad foothills as a backdrop, the low profile construction doesn’t quite disclose the superb design detail within.
A feature entry leads to the focal point of the home, a multiple function ‘living’ area of almost 200m2. The featured double fireplace of natural stone combined with exposed trusses are the character in this space. The kitchen is set in at the end of the room, giving a commanding view through the room and the raw West Coast scenery through the large windows and doors leading outside.
The use of the Kingfisher Spruce range adds warmth and feeling to this space. Massive trusses spanning over 8 metres form a stunning conversation point. The ceiling between, including the kitchen and entry, are lined with the matching Kingfisher Spruce TGV to complete the design to an exceptional finish. The final touch is the LED lighting set into the bottom chords to light up the trusses from below, highlighting the bold lines which signify the heart of this home. A light stain coating over these brings a warmth of colour to the room, while complementing the polished floors and stone fireplace.
The man behind this mammoth task took the every challenge in his stride, Hayden from Simpson Residential Ltd. The Kingfisher Spruce was a first for him, but he commented on the ease of working with it and the even better result once it was finished. Hayden has already got another two projects using the Kingfisher Spruce and is excited about the future for his company and this product range.
