Eric Armishaw Reserve Walkway

Completion of Auckland’s $1.4 Billion Western Ring Route has been prioritised as a project of national significance. By connecting the south-western and north-western motorways the Waterview Connection creates a direct link between the Auckland CBD and the Airport. The project incorporates urban design initiatives that deliver new recreational facilities, upgraded parks and improved cycling and walking connections to the neighbouring communities of Avondale, Mt Albert and Point Chevalier.
The shared cycle and pedestrian boardwalk bridge featured here links to the path through the Waterview interchange and traverses the tidal zone heading north west into Eric Armishaw Reserve in Point Chevalier. This connection was built in mid-2016 .
ATS Timber supplied the timber required for this connection. This project involved preparation of custom profiled decking and handrails along with a range of SG8 verified structural timber solutions. All timber was treated H5 and supplied cut to length as per contractors requirements.

Woodridge Estate, Wellington

Woodridge is a new residential suburb located at the northern end of Newlands in Wellington. Homes are built on flat sections, nestled in the Hills between Newlands and Horokiwi. Seemingly a country mile from the hustle and bustle of city life, tucked away in a quiet pocket of Wellington’s northern suburbs, the place that encourages pride of ownership, peace of mind and a sense of belonging.

With gorgeous views, reserve outlooks and flat building sites, it’s little wonder that Woodridge is fast becoming one of Wellington’s most successful new residential neighbourhoods, and all only minutes from Wellington CBD.

An impeccable eye for detail is a  hallmark of the team working on this development that ranges from stylish town houses to architectural homes.

Over recent years ATS Timber has worked in close conjunction with the developers and local Approved Resellers to provide customised timber products to a large number of these homes. A lot of them feature band sawn face weatherboard and fascia’s out of our Kakapo Cladding range that is pre-stained in Resene Woodsman colours and then finished on site. A range of profiles from bevel back to rusticated to shiplap and different colour options are chosen depending on the clients tastes. Custom designed pergola’s and entryway’s commonly incorporate band sawn timber products that serve both a modern an functional purpose.

Development of Woodridge Estate began when the landowning family of Woodridge Farm, the Wrights, began to cut a portion of their farm into lots in the 1980’s. Woodridge is still actively growing under the guiding hand of the Wright family members in the form of Woodridge Developments and Wrightway Homes.

Mr Wright took the ‘wood’ theme from the family farm and named many of the streets in keeping with this theme. Examples are Peppertree Lane, Cedarwood St, Ashwood St, Kentwood Drive, White Pine Ave, and Cabbage Tree Lane.

Castle Rock Beach Bach

This amazing beach house at Whangarei Heads used Kingfisher SG8 products as a very important design component. Highly visual, structural members on both the interior and exterior. Featured in September 2014 issue of the Home Magazine.

A ‘Home of the Year’ Finalist, designed by Herbst Architects demanded hand picked grades and custom sizes that were installed by construction firm, Lindesay Construction. The 100m2 build including decks is a masterpiece and ulitmate showcase of the capabilities of the Kingfisher SG8 Range. For exterior timbers, H3.2 Copper Quat (CQ) treatment was chosen for its environmentally friendly properties. In the words of architect Lance Herbst ‘We play with whats inside and whats outside to create a different experience to the city with the strong engagement with nature.”

“Here at Castle Rock Herbst Architects were asked to design a holiday home for a family of four from Auckland. The site, as you can see from the photographs on, was gorgeous, but came with a number of challenges. The building platform on top of the ridge was already prescribed by the rules of the subdivision, and was exposed to wind from every direction. The views out to sea and to the Whangarei Heads were to the south, but the views north to the top of Castle Rock were, in their own ways, just as worthy of contemplation.

The home has a fabulous openness: it feels at times as if it is little more than a series of casual shelters on the way to the beach. In reality, the entry level of the home is made up of two decks and two rooms, each of them with an array of doors, shutters and screens that offer a variety of configurations between openness and closure. The entry deck faces north to the view of Castle Rock, and is therefore perfect for sheltering from southerly breezes. Like most of the doors on this level, the slider separating this deck from the kitchen disappears into a wall; so does the door on the other side of the kitchen, which connects to another deck with a fireplace and a view of the ocean. The idea is that there will always be a covered outdoor space to hang out in, but if the weather is truly terrible, access to both these decks can be closed off, and the owners can move easily between the kitchen and the snug living area, with its deep built-in seats and corner window overlooking the trees beside the beach…..”
